Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 31, 2026

Zero data collection

OpenRead was built privacy-first. The app runs entirely on your device and does not collect, transmit, share, or sell your personal data. We operate no server that your content passes through — nothing about you is sent to us.

What we do and don’t do

Speech runs on your device

The text-to-speech engine and its voice model are bundled inside the app. Text you listen to is converted to audio locally on your iPhone or iPad. No sentence, page, or book is ever uploaded to a cloud service for synthesis.

Voice samples you record

If you clone a voice, the recording is processed on your device to build a compact voice profile. Both the recording and the profile stay in the app’s own storage, nothing is uploaded, and deleting the cloned voice removes them.

Content you import

Content and ownership

OpenRead does not host, own, or control any of the content it can read. Books, documents and web pages belong to their respective owners. The app simply helps you read and listen to material you already have the right to access — you are responsible for what you import, and for complying with the rights and terms that apply to it. Everything is provided as-is, with no warranty.

Permissions the app may ask for

Children

Because the app collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either.

Changes to this policy

If we ever change this policy — for example, if an optional feature that touches the network is added — we’ll post the update here and adjust the App Store privacy labels so you stay informed.
